A bit of Disney before the Eastern Subs...

My first blog overseas. I would have got this one out sooner, but first stop was Disneyland and the US adapter didn’t work and Disney is not exactly the epicenter of technology so I had to wait till we arrived in Santa Monica and hit the Apple store before I could access my computer.

My LA based friend text me and asked ‘are you at the happiest place on earth?’ All I can say is thank god that bit is over. I know we do it for the children and yes, they had a great time. But three days were like....2 days too much. Steve is on absolute best husband behaviour (must be a sports thing coming up he hasn't mentioned) because he took the kids for half a day while I went to the spa and now we are ensconsed in the sanity that is Santa Monica, he volunteered himself to take the kids to Universal Studios today while I had breakfast with my friend along the Boulevard and did a 'wee' shop in 3rd Street.

Memories of Disney will include feeling cold (think of Sydney winter on a cold day). Some pretty bad food (who sweetens bread!!!???), some great service ( I lost two rings and staff were excellent but unfortunately my wedding band remains unfound), worrying about an old neck injury on the rides (excellent excuse to not do some of the more exhilarating rides!). Kids swimming in the pool for tho hours while I sit in my jeans and polo neck (that’s skivvy for Australians) and the majority of people and children being overweight. I actually found it very distressing seeing so many obese 3- 5 year olds and watching babies are being forcefed cake and lollies. Steve put this down to education, and money. Lots of people are struggling financially and cheap food abounds. From our own taste buds We watched an ad for dinner which was effectively melted cheese out of a packet on top of a tin of tomatoes.

Now for Santa Monica....
