So mum has asked me to write up about some of our adventures so far in Costa Rica.
Of course the best for me are those that take your breath away and I would like to tell you about 4 different adventures.
Zip lining in Los Canones
Pure Trek Canyoning
White Water Rafting
Horse Riding with Los Ranchos.
Zip lining with Los Canones.

In our hotel in Arenal a company called Los Canoes runs a 13 course zipline tour. The shortest line was around 35 meters and the biggest was around 500 meters. The weird thing about this zipline was that you had hand brakes which meant that you had to control your own speed and stop yourself. Sometimes a guide (there were 6 of them in total) would connect you to him and would then ask you to let go so you are literally souring through the trees like an eagle. It was so much fun! On the trip we saw a couple of vultures, a howler monkey and a wild board. Overall I rate this a definite 8 ½ out of 10!
Pure Trek Canyoning:

If you’ve done rock climbing you should know how to get down. Canyoning is just that except you’re jumping off waterfalls over 50 meters! It may not sound big but trust me when I’ll say you’ll change your mindif you look down!. There were 4 different waterfalls you had to jump down. There was also something called the ‘MonkeyDrop’, which you think is a zipline until you suddenly drop to the droung. It wsa so much fun!! At the end you are completely soaked and freezing cold. Overall I rate it a massive 9 ½ out of 10
White water rafting though Water Expeditions
This was actually booked as part of Pure Trek.com as a full day tour.
If you like to get soaking wet, grab a raft and jump onto the rapids of the river Basa. This has definitely been the highlight of Costa Rica so far. In my opinion I think we had the best guide; Gerard. First of all, he could speak really good English and second he knew a lot of history about the river Basa. Erin and I jumped to the front of the raft and rode the rapids first class (note from mum..it meant mum and dad did all the work!). Also, along the way, I was allowed to jump out of the raft and literally float along the lazy river. At the end , all the guides made a delicious pineapple, watermelon snack on an overturned raft. It was so good! Easily a 10 out of 10 adventure!
Horse Riding with Los Ranchos - In Manuel Antonio
http://www.rancholostucanes.com
I have never ridden a horse and did not know what to expect. When we arrived at the ranch in Manuel Antonio, our guide Hugo gave me a horse called ‘Mariana’. The horses started walking down a path towards a waterfall. Hugo recommended getting into a trot or a canter to speed us up. Erin and mum didn’t enjoy it. But I enjoyed it because it was very different. I never knew I would like riding horses but I really enjoyed this. Dad and I galloped most of the way to the waterfall while mum and Erin waited by a house. I really enjoyed this.
We had an amazing lunch at the base afterwards of local chicken cuisine and vegetables and as always the black bean rice which is a staple food in Costa Rica.
For me this was a 7 ½ of adventure out of 10. I think for mum and Erin it was a 4 as mum is still complaining she can’t walk very well.
